Hey, as long as the server works OK and stable (and does not need reboot every night), there is no need for any upgrades.
Why break something that works, and unless you need new features/functionality it's a big waste.
The IT industry depends on the software or hardware upgrades, I agree. However some upgrades do not make any sense and moreover break backward compatibility with the previous versions of the same product. Take a look at the MS Office for instance, a very good example. Or new computer games: buy a new video card or the game will not work on your 1 year old computer.
This is ridiculous... especially Vista. It requires a lot of hardware power just to mimic what OS-X or Suse had for ages.
So what MS will do? They will discontinue their support of WinXP and force you to spend more $$, not create more IT jobs.
