April 19th, 1775...Who fired the first shot?

02 Nov in 1775, fired, shot
Who fired the first shot is the questions we have been getting lately.
Today we’ll bee looking at different sources to finally decide…who did fire the first shot? It was an ordinary day of April 19, 1775, but who knew what was about to happen that would change the future.
Basically, On April 19, 1775, British and American soldiers exchanged fire in the Massachusetts towns of Lexington and Concord.
On the night of April 18, the royal governor of Massachusetts, General Thomas Gage, commanded by King George III to suppress the rebellious Americans, had ordered 700 British soldiers, under Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith and Marine Major John Pitcairn, to seize the colonists' military stores in Concord, some 20 miles west of Boston. According to the map, unfortunately that does not help at all. Maybe, only we can figure out how many people there were. But not who fired the shots…
This is not a reliable source of information because it doesn’t prove anything of who fired the first shot. Unlike, the Map our second source, Lt. John Baker, is a primary source. He had nice information and all, but he didn’t tell us…why were the British on Lexington Green? Also, he said that the Colonists fired the first shot and a lot of the British soldiers supported him. He wrote all of this in a diary and sometimes you can exaggerate in a diary, but you also speak from your heart. Anyway, this was a reliable source because it was from a primary source (Diary) and it had all the information. Third, were our minute-men. They did not have information about how many British soldiers there were. They also did not have a specific number of people wounded and number of people died. It is though a primary source because it comes right from the people (Minutemen). This really isn’t a reliable source because it didn’t have enough information to support them. Also, in the American Textbook, it said that the British soldiers started firing upon the Patriots and killed 8 people. That is supported by a lot of other sources and people. For example, Paul Revere experienced this and reported it, and it was long before all of New England were to fight the English. This is a reliable source of information because again…as I said. “Paul Revere experienced this and reported it.” Though if he was a biased, I don’t think that he would lie just to make war and so I think that this was a supported and a well informative source.
So, who did fire the first shot…was it the British soldiers, or the so called, "Peaceful" Patriots. This is surely a question that will go on for many years, although there might be an answer. A mighty portion thinks that the colonists fired the first shot. This is because that maybe the one of the colonists thought, "Ooh, look at me, I’m so tough…I’m carrying a rifle. Ha ha ha…I should target the British and fire upon them." This is supported by me. Believe me, I was like that when I was a little kid, but in this case I was carrying a rife.
Anyway, the question will always be in our minds floating around for years to come. And maybe just one day, we will…find out…who…fired…the…first…shot.
