Finally we've migrated Firstov.com website to Drupal CMS. Thanks all who helped with Joomla to Drupal transition and with graphics design elements!
The main reason for migration was a problem with Joomla SEO (search engine optimization). Joomla generates many different URLs for the same content and that's not cool at all, as the website would be penaltized when you have lots of URLs with same content. In addition Drupal provides very tight and solid integration of all modules with the core, which beats Joomla's components/bots/etc model big time. (Lot's of modules are available for Drupal at their web site drupal.org ). And finally, we already have a couple of sites running on a single Drupal framework/codebase and there are less headaches to support all web sites this way.
We' ve setup 301 redirects from old to new URLs helping search engines to find the website content easier and to support old bookmarked URLs.
We hope that Firstov.com new interface and the site navigation components are now more intuitive and easier to use. Therefore we decided to leave some third party components intact, such as Forum from simple machines and menalto Gallery as they provide better functionality as-is compare to what is built into the Drupal system.
